Are you or were you in the miliary? if yes, I salute you. However, I disagree with your opinion. The man was just standing up for his belief that the war was wrong and he simply refuses to go. Killing innocent people and causing unneccessary suffering does not make you a hero.

You said "he simply refuses to go", then why wont he simply take the punishment? He's man enough to say no, he should be man enough to face the consequence of his decision and not try and look for loopholes in the system. Nobody held a gun to his head and told him to sign up, he signed up for free college in exchange for military service. He knows what he signed up for, hell it lays it out in both the oath of enlistment and commission.
