To Supporters Everywhere,
Thank you for all your warm thoughts, prayers, donations,
and earnest efforts to support me and put an end to the illegal and immoral war
in Iraq. We won a tremendous victory when the judge
declared a mistrial. Although the Army refuses to acknowledge the
effect of public opinion, there can be
no doubt that the hundreds of supporters outside the base and lining up to sit
in the courtroom caught the attention of Ft. Lewis
personnel from the rank and file to high ranking officers. If the U.S. Army decides to try me again,
they risk losing the entire case and being forced to drop all charges.
The battle of U.S. v. Lt. Watada is not over
yet. Organizers still need your
help. For more information, contact the public support campaign
. We all have a vital role to play and each
contribution, no matter how large or small, human or monetary makes all
the difference. I strongly believe it is the responsibility
of every American citizen to not only oppose this war, but to actively
and
non-violently work to put an end to it.
Remember, it has been proven that the Iraq War makes America less
safe. It has been proven that the majority of Iraqi
civilians want the American occupation to end within months. A
democracy relies on the willingness for
people to take action. We must act now.
Sincerely,
Ehren Watada

Warm Thoughts and Gratitude fom Bob Watada & Rosa Sakanishi |

To our many old and newfound friends:
The last several months have been an incredible experience, an
experience few will encounter in a lifetime. As we journeyed through
out our America, we were so impressed with the outpouring of support
from thousands of people. Our faith has been restored, we are a nation
of people who genuinely care about others on this planet earth. How do
we say thank you thousands of times to the many wonderful people that
we have met, each and everyone of you. I am sure we erred in not
expressing our gratitude to each and every one of you, but, rest
assured we do really thank you for your undying support.

Mahalo - Thank You from Lt. Watada's Mother, Carolyn Ho |
|
Dear Supporters,
I returned home quite ill from the flu but, interestingly, bed rest gave me time to appreciate the scope and depth of support coming from many hands and many hearts. Without the dedication and organizational ability of my co-sponsors, my East Coast, West Coast, and Mid-West tours would not have been possible. I was overwhelmed by how mainstream America embraced Lt. Watada’s message and came out in full force to fundraise and pledge their commitment to spreading the word.
In addition, my thanks go to everyone in the Northwest and to those nationally and internationally whom I have never met. People contributed in ways that resonated for them. Some circulated petitions, labored at the computers inputting data, participated in the 11th hour telephone banking, others labored over strategy and the website and still others stepped up to the plate to mobilize the Northwest and the country during the court martial. Many donated generously to the defense fund.
