BAYAN-USA, AnakBayan Seattle and AnakBayan Honolulu

BAYAN-USA, AnakBayan Seattle and AnakBayan Honolulu stand in firm solidarity with all conscientious objectors in the military, including Lieutenant Watada. [Note: Lt. Watada does not claim to be a conscientious objecter as defined by military regulations.]

Under the guise of this so-called "war on terror" innocent civilians have been displaced and killed throughout the world, and the United States is still looking for Bin Laden and the missing weapons of mass destruction.

The US also continues to occupy sovereign nations like the Philippines training the fascist military to terrorize the masses and mass leaders of the national democratic movement.

This has resulted in the deaths of many young leaders including AnakBayan youth leader Pedro Angcon who was shot 38 times in the chest, Chris Hugo a 20 year old leader of League of Filipino Students who was also gunned down, and the abduction of 16 year-old AnakBayan leader Brian Macalisang, who is still missing.

The US government in the past has led a war on poverty, a war on drugs, and now a war on terror. But today, our street corners and four corners of the globe see more poverty, more drugs and the perpetuation of terror throughout the world.  And the number one perpetrator of terrorism is US Imperialism.

Lieutenant Watada may or may not know, but his decision to object is a small step part of a greater leap forward in dismantling the global system of oppression sustained by US Imperialism!   We call on all young people of color, Filipino youth and students, and freedom loving citizens of the Pacific Northwest and in Hawaii to support the efforts of Lieutenant Watada.

In solidarity,
BAYAN-USA Northwest
